LOSS IN

LAYERS

  • Ely is  a male, Filipino young adult from Manila. He wears a typical hoodie and cargo jeans that resembles what commonly males his age wear. His features and character were designed to seem like he is burdened by his experiences in life.

  • Set against an animated interpretation of Metro Manila, the film follows Ely, wandering through familiar streets and spaces that once held meaning. The city is alive—crowded, moving, indifferent—but Ely exists slightly out of sync with it, as if carrying a weight invisible to everyone else.

  • Loss in Layers is a Capstone Project by Domini Dalmacio, Tate Mendoza, and Sab Santos. This study hopes to bring awareness that grief doesn't translate to a singular emotion, but in a multitude of layers, and that it can manifest in art even through the usage of unconventional artistic representations of grief.

who is ely?

The chaos continues around him, but this time, he does not resist.
